Seville, Spain: Spring 2008
I’m currently a senior at Penn State, and I will be graduating this spring. I spent the last spring semester studying abroad in Seville, Spain. I chose Seville, so I could complete my Spanish minor and practice the language. It was the perfect city for me. Its mixture of different cultures was beautiful and fascinating. The city had much to offer, including two prominent soccer teams, bullfights, one of the largest cathedrals in the world, the religious festival of Semana Santa, and the weeklong party of Feria. The city of Seville was truly amazing.
I chose the homestay option and lived with an older Spanish woman whose husband had passed away several years ago. She often said that the walls don’t talk; therefore, she loved having students for companionship. Her food was incredible, and I and I had the chance to experience delicious Spanish cuisine. She also treated me like her son, and she was definitely a major factor in enhancing my experience abroad.
While Abroad, I had the opportunity to do a lot of traveling. I
traveled to Portugal, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, and
Morocco. My list of cities includes Lisbon, Rome, Paris, Amsterdam,
Brussels, Madrid, Tangiers, Rabat, Cadiz, Cordoba, and Grenada.
My experiences abroad were some of the best times in my life, and I
wish I could go back again. I would love to help encourage others to do
it because the experience is really worth it. Please feel free to
